How do I get a quote?
Click the RESERVE NOW or GET A QUOTE button and fill out the inquiry form. A team member will issue you a customized quote within the same business day. The quote is typically good for 24-72 hours.
How do I book a bus / buses?
Click the RESERVE NOW button and put your trip details into the form. A team member will be in touch with you the same business day. Upon accepting the quote you can pay the invoice in full online via credit card with a 3.5% processing fee or via an online ACH transfer with a 1% processing fee.
How do I reserve a bus / buses?

Upon accepting the quote you can pay the invoice in full online via credit card with a 3.5% processing fee or via an online ACH transfer with a 1% processing fee or place a 20% deposit to secure your bus. The remaining balance of your trip will be due 14 days prior to your trip date.
Is San Diego Field Trip Bus an online broker?
No. We are a family-owned and operated business with our own buses and drivers that have been serving San Diego since 1980.
How many passengers can fit per bus?
We offer service for 2 types of passenger buses. The medium-size bus has a legal capacity limited to 55 passengers, (3 passengers per bench seat). The large-size bus has a legal capacity limit of 84 passengers, (3 passengers per bench seat). You CAN NOT exceed these numbers under any circumstances. Attempts to sneak passengers beyond legal limits can result in legal liability as well as fines from the police.
Why did my quote account for more time?
Our quotes account for all billable hours spent to safely deploy a bus and certified driver to fulfill your trip. This may include time for pre and post-trip safety inspections, time for reaching pick-up and drop-off locations, on-boarding and off-loading, wait times, dead time / on-call time, as well as traffic delays.
Do your buses have storage compartments?
Yes. There is approximately 50 square feet of storage room on the medium size buses, and approximately 100 square feet of storage room on the large buses.
What is your cancellation policy?
Single bus reservations can be canceled anytime before the 14 days prior to your trip. The deposit or full payment can be refunded less any processing fees or credited towards another trip without processing fees. After 14 days prior to your trip, your deposit or full payment becomes non-refundable.

Multi-bus reservations are non-refundable, however; at your request and on a case-by-case review, we may approve credit towards another future trip. Please contact customer service.

If placing a deposit when is the rest of my balance due?
Your 20% reservation deposit is due upon acceptance of the quote. This can be paid via any major credit card online with a 3.5% processing fee. The remaining balance of your invoice is due before the 14-day mark prior to your trip. You should receive automatic email reminders leading up to the due date.
How can I pay for my bus rental?
We accept all major credit cards with a 3.5% processing fee. ACH online bank transfers with a 1% processing fee. In-person check made out to San Diego Field Trip Bus / Johnny B’s Inc.
Do all of your bus drivers possess School Bus Driver's Licenses?
Yes, all San Diego Field Trip bus drivers are required to possess Class-B Driver’s License with a Passenger Endorsement, pass background checks, and leave fingerprints on file with law enforcement.
Will my driver and bus remain on site while I'm at my destination?

In most cases yes. However, depending on your schedule and location, it is not guaranteed that your bus and driver will stay on-site. Please call 619-200-2230 or email us at info@sdfieldtripbus.com and we will see what can be arranged.

Please note that additional charges may apply if the bus and driver remain on-site.

Are there any extra charges for modifying my itinerary?

When you make any changes to your event after booking, we charge a flat fee of $25 for all changes after a booking, even if the driving time is unaffected. Any changes made to your itinerary 72 hours or less before your trip will incur a fee of $50.

If any extra time is added to the trip, we’ll calculate the relative price difference and add this to your invoice.

What is included in the price of my bus rental?
Your bus rental price includes your driver’s on-duty time, drive time, the bus itself, any hotel accommodation, gratuity*, and hotel accommodation**.

*School bus rentals do not include gratuity.

**Hotel accommodation is added when a trip goes over your driver’s maximum daily driving time, which is mandated by law.

What is not included in the price of my bus rental?
Toll fees, ferry fees, and parking fees are not included in your bus rental quote (except for the parking provided by the driver’s hotel). Our team can either assist you in establishing the cost of tolls and parking and adding it to your bus rental price, or you can plan for them yourself and pay for them yourself once on your journey.
Do I need to make a deposit to secure my bus rental?
Yes. To reserve a bus, we require a 20% deposit to place against your full invoice amount. The full invoice amount is due within 14 days prior to your trip date. If your trip is less than 14 days away you are required to pay in full.
When do I need to pay for my bus rental?
Depending on the date of your trip, there are two options for payment. If your trip is over 14 days away, the payment can be made right away or you can place a deposit. This means that the remaining balance payment for your trip is not required until 14 days before your departure.

If your trip is less than 14 days away, then your payment is due as soon as you book your trip.

Does my bus come with a driver?
Yes, every bus rental that comes from San Diego Field Trip Bus is chauffeured. We do not rent vehicles without a driver.
Am I required to tip my driver?
For minibus, mini coach, and coach bus rentals, the price of your driver’s gratuity is included in your bus rental fee.

School bus rentals typically do not include a driver gratuity, and it is not required. However, drivers are always thankful for customers’ generosity if they do decide to provide it themselves by adding it to their online invoice payment or tipping them cash in person.
